Meeting Aesclepius...

Since embarking into the world of meditation I have found a deeper inner strength and power that helps me work through each task and goal I put in front of me each day. because of my schedule and inability to sleep I have planned my meditations for evening after my yoga practice, which has given me a better way to ease into a peaceful and sound sleep. During this meditation; Meeting Aesclepius I thought about my grandfather, he was a guiding force in my life and I had great admiration and respect for him. He was the one person who told me to never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something and never quit on yourself. This has become my strength when I come to every challenge in my life.

When it comes to the saying, "one cannot lead another where one has not gone himself" I believe you have to lead in order to get people to follow; in other words you have to be willing to first do something yourself before you can ask another to do it. I believe you have to have the lifestyle that you are trying to get a client to follow, or you are just a hypocrite. A health and wellness professional should first have achieved health and wellness in order to be able to teach these practices. In my quest for health, I workout every morning and walk in nature with my husband 5 - 6 miles, I also practice yoga and have been implementing meditation to further foster spiritual growth. I also make sure that I touch base with those people in my life that are important. The connection greatly improves my sense of purpose in life.

  1. Hi Cyndie,

Your blog is so pretty! I love how you said, "I believe you have to lead in order to get people to follow." I agree with your saying more than any other! I love when my clients inspire their friends and family members to live healthier lifestyles. I have had four clients become personal trainers because they realized they had a passion for health and fitness. The more we can inspire and lead people to lead others the healthier our nation will become!

    Have a great week!

  2. Cyndie I just love reading your blog. It brings me such peace. You really seem to be as one with all of this. I wish that I had pleasant thoughts/memories of my loved ones that would calm me and guide me. I agree that one has to journey himself before being able to share with others. It reminds me when I was in the workforce and I kept getting promoted. The only way how I knew what was going on or how things worked was because I myself had did it before and had experienced. To have trust in that journey is important also. And in order to have trust one has to know all the viable options or obstacles. Great point about making a lifestyle change and not be a hypocrite to your patients. I am so glad that you have a greater understanding and connection with your purpose in life.
    Peace & Blessings

  3. Cyndie,
it is great to hear you have found a way to help with getting to and staying asleep. It is also great to hear you and your husband are able to enjoy five or six miles walking together. That is or can be great quality time. You are absolutely correct about leading by example. If an individual or group entered an area to engage in a fitness routine and the trainer appeared to be unhealthy, there would be less confidence in anything positive getting done. If someone looks the part and can help articulate the process he or she to get there, everyone will be in a much better place going in. Joe
